Copilot Cowork is now generally available worldwide
Launched June 16, 2026, Cowork is GA for all Microsoft 365 Copilot customers with multi-model support. More than half of the Fortune 500 used Cowork during the preview. Long-running agents now handle complex, multi-step tasks grounded in your organisation's knowledge — returning completed work, not drafts.

Cowork switches to usage-based billing via Copilot Credits
Cowork now runs on usage-based billing with Copilot Credits, requiring a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence. Frontier customers must set up usage-based billing in the M365 admin center by June 30, 2026, or lose access. A grace period applies to tenants active in Frontier between March 30 and June 16.

9 partner plugins available at launch; 8 more coming
Cowork launched with plugins from Enosix, Harvey, LSEG, Miro, Monday.com, Moody's, Morningstar, S&P Global Energy, and TeamsMaestro. Eight additional plugins planned from Adobe, Atlassian, Box, Canva, CB Insights, Databricks, MoneyForward, and Templafy. Fabric and Dynamics 365 are also GA with Cowork.

Cowork toggle added to the M365 Copilot app
A new toggle inside the Microsoft 365 Copilot app lets users seamlessly move from Copilot Chat into Cowork for long-running agentic tasks — lowering the barrier to access without switching applications. Browser use via Edge is also supported in Frontier.

Microsoft Scout announced at Build 2026 as first "Autopilot" agent
Announced June 2, 2026 at Build, Scout is the first agent in Microsoft's new "Autopilots" category — always-on agents with their own identity that act on your behalf. Unlike chat-based Copilot, Scout proactively monitors Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, and SharePoint to detect tasks, surface context, and prepare drafts before you ask.

Scout requires Frontier enrollment + Intune; enterprise GA expected early 2027
Scout is currently available through the Microsoft Frontier program for Windows 11+ and macOS 12+ and requires Frontier enrollment and an Intune-managed device. Broad enterprise availability is expected by early 2027. More than 3,000 Microsoft employees have been testing early versions internally.
